Another tutorial I've been wanting to do for a while. Photoshop, make sure you know what I'm talking about before you get into anything. This one's pretty simple.

Since I was asked by Amanda so very nicely. I figured I'd make a tutorial and show you how I made a few of my favorite manga icons. Keep in mind that you'll need to know Photoshop pretty well for this tutorial, I'm not going to show the template of what your layer palette should look like. It's going to be reletively quick because I'm tired.

Tell me again why you left ... )

And you're all set! Now you know my secrets. If you do decide to use this tutorial, please show me the results. This is one of my favorite (and purely original) techniques. I'd like to see what you guys make out of it. Remember to keep your negative (black) space so the texture of the brushes show through.

So! Nyx wanted to know how to set type, so I'm going to create this little tutorial and teach you every crazy thing you ever wanted to know about using typography on icons. Before you read this, though, be aware that I'm going to be using quite a few of typographic terms, such as "leading" and "kerning" and "serifs" and so on and so forth, if you don't know what those are, please refer to this former post that I made a lo~ng time ago about typography.

Yes. I know way too much about typographic design. I'm just a little crazy when it comes to stuff like this. If I use a term you don't know, or that I didn't explain, please tell me so I can tell you what it means/fix it.

Is there anything else I've forgotten/anything anyone else would like to add? I always like to know if those helped or not, or if you already knew this stuff. :3 So drop me a line and tell me, I'd appreciate it.
